Whitney’s Biennial is an interdisciplinary group exhibition that re-envisions the ubiquitous Biennial formula by personalizing the institution, paring it down to a single person. Whitney is the proverbial every artist, the flesh-and-bone actor laboring under the shadows of giants.

The exhibition will take place within the coming weeks of Whitney Houston’s new album dropping. This infamous recording artist has a comeback album set to be released on September 1, 2009. The exhibition will explore the dubious notion of the comeback. In a moment when the much anticipated Michael Jackson comeback tour tragically never took flight, and the entire world is waiting with baited breath to see if and when the economy will recover, the art world is in need of a new strategy, one which takes a more distanced position in relation to the inevitable and repetitious booms and crashes of the art market.
